Major projects include an extended-stay hotel and Grace Community Church expansion, highlighting ongoing growth in the region. Significant commercial developments also contribute to this boom, including a new gas station and multi-tenant building. The construction influx is expected to create more opportunities for local businesses and enhance living standards as Huntsville adapts to its growing needs.
The Huntsville area has experienced a significant surge in construction activity, with new building permits exceeding $65 million since July 29. This increase reflects a strong commitment to development in the region, as Madison, Morgan, and Limestone counties have become hubs for major building projects.
Among these new permits, seven projects have been identified to surpass $1 million in value. Notably, six of these high-value projects reside within Huntsville, reinforcing the area’s reputation as a focal point for growth and innovation.
Highlighting the construction wave is the expansion of Grace Community Church, which tops the list at a staggering $3.3 million. This project will introduce a new Children’s Ministry Wing to the church’s facilities, with an expected completion date set for October 2026.
In a parallel development, a new extended-stay hotel branded as LivSmart has secured a building permit worth $12.4 million. Strategically located on Cabela Drive near Bridge Street Town Centre and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, this hotel is designed to accommodate guests looking for long-term stays of 10 nights or more, offering a variety of modern amenities.
In addition to these major projects, a $1.8 million permit has also been issued for a new multi-tenant commercial building and gas station on County Line Road. This project will boast a 2,000-square-foot gas station and a 12,517-square-foot commercial building on a 2.69-acre site, complete with 86 parking spaces. Premier Structures is leading this initiative, serving both as the contractor and owner of the gas station property.
Across the state, only 16 new building permits were issued for million-dollar-plus construction projects, with Huntsville claiming six of them.
